Excluding files from analysis

I am trying to analyze a project that is using a framework that is vendor-supplied (legacy Atmel Studio with ASF). There are hundreds of files in that framework, and it KILLS the performance of VS Code. My laptop fan is running at high speed virtually non-stop.

How can I exclude the framework’s files? I am not seeing anything in the codescene-health-rules.json file that provides a way to exclude files like this.

    Hello! I have a few follow-up questions.

    1. Just to confirm, the files in question are inside the repository, and tracked by git?

    2. Also just to confirm, these are source code files, and not compiled binaries?

    Here are some suggestions from us, assuming the answer to the questions is yes:

    • Commit the vendor files, and then add its folder to .gitignore without removing them from the repo. Would work well if the vendor code wont be touched regularly.

    • Commit the vendor files to a “main” branch. The extension only tracks changed files, either uncommitted, or new/changed compared to the identified merge base branch. See here for which branch names that it looks for when evaluating changes.

    • Having vendor code inside the repo is not ideal for many reasons, so if that could be avoided, it would obviously solve this problem.

    In our development roadmap, we have plans to improve the integration between the IDE extensions and the Codescene projects with, among other things, access to the project exclusion filters. When that is in place, that would be an option for this scenario.
